Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!!

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and blessings for the holiday season.  One of my attendings is with his family in New York.  His son is a band member for Eastern Hign School and will be marching in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, sooo exciting!!  I have the parade on DVR just to make sure we see them in action.  It will truly a moment to remember.  Gooo  Eastern!!!
We are going to my sister-in-law's for Thanksgiving, a special time for all.  As I reflect on last year's Thanksgiving, several life changing events have shaped how we view and anticipate this holiday season.  The boys have changed in many ways because of those events.  They are willingly putting up the Christmas trees for me, while I am cooking.  (currently only  one comment on the lack of a real tree, anticipate maybe a couple more.) They wanted to make sure that Chase (the youngest) was around because he truly enjoys putting the ornaments on the tree.  Justin has worked for hours scanning old photos for a Christmas project we are doing.  They have not complained when I refuse to allow the TV or computer to be available, and we play scrabble or I watch them pulverize each other in Monopoly.  (I do not have the heart for that game.)  So I truly feel blessed that they appreciate time together and that they will remember this time fondly, even with all the changes and loss this past year has brought.
Much love to you all!!

The Christmas Tree

November 20, 2010
Yes, it is still before Thanksgiving, but I have already started to decorate for Christmas.  My husband has even already put up the lights on the house.  Thus, the yearly question of "Can we have a real Christmas tree?" is asked.  Usually  the oldest one, Justin (15), is the one asking.  Brook, my husband, last year did say he would think about it.  Well, the answer is again "no."  Brook is a paramedic, enough said.  He really tolerates so much from me and the boys, that his rules are few and far between.  So, to appease Justin I did go ahead buy a tree.  I came home, Justin was asleep on the couch, I woke him up to tell him I had bought a Christmas tree.  And he was so excited until he saw the rosemary tree I bought from whole foods.  I think it is a real tree.  It is cute, adds so much to the table, and mmmmm, the smell.  Love rosemary!!!  Justin's facial expression pretty summed up his thoughts.
Okay, it gets even better.....
Brook just read the blog and thought I bought a real tree.   He was a little upset, using superlatives, until he realized that it was the little rosemary tree on the table.  Well, the upstairs of the house smells nice.

The first time

Hey All!!
Wow!  So exciting to be able to share about the boys.  I have, over the years, been given sympathy for being the mom of 3 boys. And yes, at times I have totally questioned God's wisdom in his decision making skills.  But all in all, I feel very blessed that we (my husband and I) have been graced with the task of raising three honorable young men.  (I do have to say we are raising men, not boys, though)  So I have finally taken the leap to develop a blog that will give homage to the arduous task of raising men.
11/19  issue of the day
My middle son is very bright but is currently making me want to pull my hair out as he can make a 100% on a national science test but still have an unsatisfactory grade.  And I have kept my composure over the last 2 days, until tonight.  He still has not developed a science project.  I have a feeling that Thanksgiving weekend will not be homework free.  I am sure that many others have been in this similar situation.  I would appreciate any advice you would have to offer.
My goal with the blog is to post everyday.  I will try to keep it funny, light, and graceful.  Anyone who has experience with raising men is welcome to comment too!!  It takes a village to raise a child!!

Much love to all,
